A little background on each place this trip takes you to.
Thalassery Fort is the centrepiece of this historic Malabar town's Dutch-era waterfront, a short walk from old bazaar streets known for a distinctive biryani and Kerala's circus training tradition.
Chandragiri Fort overlooks the Chandragiri river mouth in Kasaragod district, a quieter counterpart to nearby Bekal with sweeping views where the river meets the Arabian Sea.
Kerala's largest fort, spread across 40 acres on the coast of Kasaragod district. Built in its present form around 1650 and later held by Hyder Ali, Tipu Sultan and the British, it is a purely military structure known for its keyhole shaped cannon openings and sweeping sea views.
Bekal Beach stretches below Bekal Fort's ramparts, a quieter North Kerala shoreline with the fort's silhouette as a backdrop, especially at sunset.
